Ōkere Zip

Born from an intimate connection with the Ōkere Awa (Kaituna River), Rotorua Ziplines showcases the mauri (spirit) and significance of this place through a two-hour experience grounded in culture, conservation and connection.

A joint venture between Rotorua Rafting and local iwi Ngāti Pikiao, this experience will have you soaring through the air like a bird over three waterfalls - including 7m Tutea Falls -  on four ziplines, across a swing bridge and along a series of elevated boardwalks suspended over one of New Zealand's most iconic rivers. 

Suitable for most ages and abilities, you’ll be guided by two experienced local experts who share kōrero and stories of our ancestors and our deep connection with the area. 

Along the journey, you’ll sip ancient Māori tea and become part of our reforestation kaupapa, to plant 100,000 native trees by 2030. As of 1 January 2026, 68,000 are already in the ground, helping Ōkere Falls thrive for generations to come.

This is more than just a zipline trip!

Key points: 

• Rotorua Ziplines operates every day, rain or shine, except Christmas Day and New Years Day (25th December and 1st January)

• Zipline over four ziplines and one swingbridge

• Be part of our kaupapa, and we will plant a tree in your name!

• We will provide all safety gear.  Please bring comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and covered footwear.

• Trip times are 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm, with others on demand.

• All zipliners will need to be able to walk about 400m through the forest on the boardwalks. 

• Rotorua Ziplines operates every day, rain or shine, except Christmas Day and New Years Day (25th December and 1st January)

• Allow 2 hours.

• Age limit: 5 years and above.  Those under 18 will need a guardian to sign for them.  All child age 5-12 must have a guardian (paying adult) travel with them.

• Weight limit:  130kg

• Child Age: 5 - 12 years

• Adult Age: 13 and over

• Senior Age: 65 and above

• Unfortunately, we are unable to take those who are pregnant or those with certain medical conditions. Please be aware that if you are over 130kg, we cannot take you ziplining.  If you have any questions regarding this, please contact us directly.
